Ambulance service goes live with new incident messaging technology

Date: 07 November 2023

East of England Ambulance Service NHS Trust is going live with a new messaging and incident update system after a successful pilot phase.
The Mobile Data and Vehicle Solution (MDVS) programme is part of a national scheme across the whole NHS replacing existing on-ambulance technology (such as Sat Nav) with a new system that secures critical communications in vehicles.
This replaces obsolete technology and will support the LIfeX Control Room Solution that will come into use in 2024.

Rollout has commenced across EEAST’s fleet of over 600 Ambulances and response vehicles.
EEAST is the fourth Ambulance Trust to go live on MDVS after Yorkshire, North West and Welsh Ambulance Services.

Chief Information Officer Stephen Bromhall said: “The Trust is excited to start the Digital communication technology modernisation. This will provide our front-line staff better communication and data technology to support our patients while on the move.
Our ability to respond quickly to the developments and shifting trends of technology continues to be a key aspect of our Digital and Data transformation programme, where we are considered a technology leader.”
