Community Engagement Group

Our Community Engagement Group (CEG) members are a knowledgeable, keen and enthusiastic group of volunteers, who are willing to participate and support us wherever they can, but also to be a “critical friend” when necessary.

Networked in west and east localities and drawn from urban and rural communities, the CEG have their own work plan and members of the group sit on many of EEAST’s groups and committees, to ensure patient and public representation is integral to how we plan and deliver our services.

Their focus is on activities like:

  • engaging with their local communities, being ambassadors for the service
  • sourcing potential patient interviews and linking EEAST into local consultations
  • station cleanliness audits (as and when required by the Trust IPC group)
  • working on EEAST Community First Responder (CFR) projects.

Many of the CEG come from ambulance service backgrounds, or from Patient Participation Groups, or from the wider health service. Being in the CEG has often stemmed from involvement as a CFR, but this is not essential.
