Landlord Philip Taylor of the Kings Head in Loddon has donated £2,000 to fund the purchasing of a new response kit bag for his local Community First Responder (CFR) group through the East of England Ambulance Service Charity.

This purchase of a second kit bag will enable the Loddon CFR group to increase the coverage its six local volunteers are able to provide to their local community.

CFRs are volunteers who operate within the communities in which they live or work, often providing early life-saving emergency aid ahead of ambulance arrival. They are trained and governed by the East of England Ambulance Service NHS Trust (EEAST).

The volunteers are called on any time, day or night, to help reach patients most in need.  Attending around 1,500 incidents per month, their contribution helps save lives, reduce pain and provide reassurance to those requiring emergency care.

Philip said: “Loddon Community First Responders (CFRs) do a great job in their community, giving up their free time to respond to medical emergencies in the local village and surrounding areas.

"In the past few months, the Loddon CFRs have helped friends of mine in their time of need so as a thank you for all their hard work and professionalism, I have given them a donation to help purchase a new response kit bag and lifesaving equipment to enable them to continue serving our local community."

Neil Gudge, from the Loddon CFR group, received the donation from Phil and manageress, Tanya Taylor.

He said, "I’d like to thank both Phil and Tanya for their generous donation and the ongoing support that they give to our group."

Thanks to the generosity from donations, legacy gifts and grants the East of England Ambulance Service Charity is able to support our staff, volunteers and local communities in ways above and beyond what NHS funding can ordinarily provide.
