Step into Health

We recognise that veterans and people leaving the Armed Forces have transferable skill sets and the aptitude to work in a dynamic and diverse environment, like the ambulance service.

These people and their skills can make a tremendous impact within the communities that we serve.

At EEAST, we support reservist commitments that many leavers have through additional time-off and policy arrangements.

Members of the Armed Forces with health-related skills and qualifications will be encouraged apply but there are host of other opportunities available within the Trust and across the wider NHS, that don’t require any formal clinical qualifications.

Careers in the ambulance service are not limited to front-line roles.  We have opportunities in our support services, such as maintenance, administration, finance, communications and management. We also have roles within our emergency operations centres (EOCs) as dispatchers or call handlers. Work placements and training opportunities for veterans and service leavers are also available.

It is important to support the dependent families of the servicemen and women, so we can also offer opportunities for them through the Step into Health scheme.
